I have some new paintings to post but I have misplaced my camera! Some psychadellic patterning paintings coming soon!

I apologise for the documentation quality on these, but I have no money to get professional documentation, and no time to rent out lights at OCAD and haul them down to the studio to document these. For my final thesis at the end of the year, I will professionally document those, but for now this is all I can put up (something is better then nothing).

gold gel, ink, marker, paint on mylar
this is an experimentation of medium. I was testing out the effects of having different mediums on mylar.

THE HEART OF HUMANITY
ink on mylar

This piece is about the contrast between our advanced yet infantile technologies; we have learned so much yet we still know so little. I'm showing the imagery of diesel technologies to show that while we have created miraculous technology, we are still plagued by the consequences of this crude form of converting energy.

CLOSE AND AFAR
gold gel, ink on mylar
Inspired by medieval graphic design and art aesthetic, this piece is about our nature in contemporary society to reveal more and more information about ourselves, to be more interconnected, yet to be paradoxically further apart, communicating separately through technologies.
Since the Mylar is partially transparent, the writing on the wall underneath shows through. I used 3 coats of gesso on the wall yet it was still visible (it was actually the cleanest wall in thesis.... dirty place haha

DETAIL OF ABOVE PIECE
PAINT SKETCH - PSYCHADELLIC ARMS
acryllic

I was done a lot of ink drawings for my Thesis class so I decided to spend one afternoon quickly painting out some colour ideas. I'm in the process of translating my black and white ink aesthetic into some coloured painting. This is the first step in a series of experimentations.

CITY LANDSCAPE
mixed media on wood

This is a city landscape that was done for a book jacket assignment in second year.

THE MECHANICAL VITRUVIAN MAN
ink and watercolour, photoshop

This is a psychadellic poster I did last year. This depicts a mechanical vitruvian man, bathing in the digital realm of intensely saturated colour.
COLOUR ABSTRACT

Here is an abstract city landscape that I did in first year. These are different colour from the original because I wanted to get across a colder feeling instead of a bright intense harmony.

METAL WALLPAPER

This is the backing sketch for a wallpaper I have rendered in illustrator, and will include in a large art piece in the new year.

TOQUE ORNAMENT

This is a design that is meant to accompany a band logo on a toque or even t-shirt.

Greed Poster

This is a poster that I worked on in the summer on the theme of greed and wealth. Was trying to make something catered to a sort of darker mood. I'm trying to work with ornament in the future and hope to expand the visual vocabulary on the figures in front as I don't want to do many skeletons as they've been done a lot. I'd love to hear feedback from my peeps.

Start of the New Blog

My website was launched in the summer but alas due to the quality of free servers it was extremely slow and unreliable. I'm dropping off the service and I'll use this blog until I can launch the site again.

I'm in the middle of Thesis work, and I produced a bunch of Ink, gel pen and mylar pieces that I will document tomorrow to put on the website. I'm going to try to put as many pieces up as fast as possible so please bear with me as I try to do too much at once.

I'll start it all off with a sketch that I coloured in photoshop. It is a rock star figure awash in bling. I'm going to start the painting of this soon.

This was the index page to my website. I'm going to do a bunch of ink drawings like this but first I am waiting for Christmas money so I can buy some new pens as all of my previous ones are dead due to Thesis work.
